Kurt Hummel was the only son - after the death of his older brother Finn in the war - of the Hummel family. It was that fact what made him stop pursuing his dreams of studying art in Paris and try to do what his parents expected of him. He helped his father with the family business, befriended Rachel Berry - the only daughter of the Berry family, close friends of the Hummels -, and didn’t complain when both families started to talk about them getting engaged after that summer.
But, the surprise visit of Rachel’s cousin - Blaine, a libertine musician who lives out of the money left by his grandmother to him- would make Kurt discover things about himself that he never imagined.
